    1960s Smiths car dashboard clock?

Hi, does anyone know much about these? I am looking at getting one for my 1973 Triumph and missed out a few nice ones on e-bay. This one is still for sale but is pricey compared to others and it looks a bit too "brand new" for a 1960s piece. What do you think?

Looks in excellent condition. In view of that, it seems odd that the seller doesn't provide a movement picture. Anything to hide there?!!

On the whole, it depends what you want. The watch looks so good, I strongly suspect that it has been redone (redial, hands relumed, etc.). This has destroyed some of the originality. On the other hand, that might be just what you want. I can't comment on the price (I have no idea what these things normally go for) but if you get a picture of the movement to check that aspect and the price looks right to you, by all means go for it.

The design of the crown tube reminds me of dollar watches, to be honest.

That looks really cool! Thanks for the post! I just missed out on a nice black one like yours. Would prefer the black case to the chrome one. I'll wait and keep looking so.

    Thanks for the advice HR.

    Cheers.

I expect it will be the PY pin-pallet pocket watch movement inside. Probably a better bet than the Smiths electric clocks actually installed in 1960s Triumphs. I've had two and both failed shortly after I got them
