I thought readers may be interested in seeing inside a 45 yr old Swiss watch.
This was my Grandfather's retirement gift which was passed to my father and then to me when they passed away. I wore the watch daily until it stopped running. Since it was 10 years since it's last service I dismantled/cleaned/oiled it and am happy to say it is ticking away nicely again.
I restore antique pocket watches as a hobby but this was a challenge as the Swiss movement was more complicated than the 19th Century fusee movements I am used to!
It's a 17-jewel movement with centre second hand, Incabloc protection, ruby jewelled Swiss-lever escapement. The case is 9k Gold, hallmarked for 1971. There's some wear to the dial as you can see which has been there a long time. :)
