    Question 1972-1973 L.C.D. watches

According to wikipedia, "The first LCD watch with a six-digit LCD was the 1973 Seiko 06LC, although various forms of early LCD watches with a four-digit display were marketed as early as 1972 including the 1972 Gruen Teletime LCD Watch, and the Cox Electronic Systems Quarza". Where these watches avaible to the general public in 1972 - early-mid 1973 and how much did they cost? The classical "Seiko" 06LC could also be wared by ladies? - I ask this because I've seen an ladies model and it looked really ugly? Did any of this watches had an light bulb inside?
I can't find any pic with the one made by "Cox...".

    Hi,

I cant find any info on the Cox Quarza watch you reference. Perhaps it was an early prototype that did not get into full production? But only a guess.

    Hi,

It might be a red Herring and the watch may not exist. Looking a little closer at the Wikipedia page citation it might be for a Casio T-1000 calculator watch. But not 100% sure.

Good luck to you if you find it though :)

    Regards

The Cox Electronic Systems Quarza Digital Watch was one of the first developed after the Hamilton push button LED. Essentially, it was the first practical LCD digital because the display was easy to read in low light levels. It incorporated the first Field Effect LCD developed by Ilixco (International Liquid Crystal Company of Cleveland Ohio.)
