2 basic questions on movements and moon phase adjustmetns

    Hi,

Still trying to educate myself and am still quite new to vintage watches.

    1. When looking at vintage mechanical wind movements most of the time I see an adjustment needle/lever on the + /- adjustment mechanism. On others, I don't. Is the needle broken off or is the adjustment made with a special tool ? See pic Valjoux 7733. No needle

    2. When adjusting a moonphase mechanical watch does the moon move approx 25 hrs from the time you make the adjustment or is there a set time the moon moves.

Thanking in advance for any help. Trying to learn

Rolex, Omega, Tag Heuer, Baume and Mercier. A few others and growing.

Like the movement you show, some regulators don't have an index/needle, but they still function exactly the same way. You can compare a Venus 188 to your Valjoux to see the difference (the Valjoux is a descendent of the Venus, but most Venus 188 movements have a regulator index needle).

Unless you have the "jumping moon" complication
