Is this 5 Star Admiral dial original or reprinted?

    Hello everyone.
Longines 5 star Admiral has been on my wish list for quite some time now. I came across one that I like, but I am concerned about the authenticity of the dial shown on te picture. Do you guys think it is original or repainted? What concerns me is the color change around the date window.Name: admiral.jpg

IMO the true test would be by taking the movement out of the case and looking for a small notch at the 3 o'clock position on the dial. If you see a notch you can be pretty sure the dial has been repainted.

I don't see any obvious tell tales.
It has age spots and vertical striping in the finish of the dial. Most redials are monotone and don't have fine detail like that striping.

If it is, it's a good one. But I don't see any signs of a redial.

This is absolutely not a redial test. There are a lot of original dials that feature this notch.

    The dial is original IMO

I'm guessing the light spots around the date window are from the lighting. I see similar areas around dial markers 6, 11 and 12. I think it looks quite nice. Good luck!

Looks good to me, I would say the dial has patina and the small area around the date window is the original colour. maybe a slightly thicker layer of paint so there's a difference in ageing or the date surround is creating a shadow from light where it was being stored for many years, I'am guessing of course but this may explain it.
