    Accurex Swiss made watch

I've received this watch as a gift few days ago:

I've discovered that it's made by "Datum Watch Company", which ceased to exist 50+ years ago. The watch is still functional and accurate (it goes forward 8-10s every day). Can you please tell me what's the worth of this watch? If it has any, i will replace the braclet with leather one and change the glass.

PS I'm sorry for my suckky English :). I will appreciate your patience and time. Thank you in advance.

    Hi and welcome.

I am sorry - but we do not give valuations in this forum. If you like the watch, and if its working OK, you must decide for yourself whether it is worth spending money on it.

    See this for why: https://forums.watchuseek.com/showthread.php?t=67379

Please don't PM me to ask for a valuation - I won't attempt one.

Thank you for the warm welcome and quick reply. I don't want to sell this watch (it has big sentimental value, my grandgrandfather wore it :)), nor I'm interested in his market value, just wanted to know more about it (build quality, general value, brand, rarity, repairs etc).

I'm trying really hard not to misspell... I haven't used it for a while. Thanks for the compliment, though :)

    Well I honestly don't know.

There was a manual one here
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330421247850

but it doesn't say what movement was in it. The chances are yours has a decent automatic movement from one of the bigger Swiss movement makers of the time e.g. Felsa, A Schild, Eta - but we would need to see the movement to be sure.

    There was an automatic here

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/accurex-sports...item5888773e97

which is described as having a cal 2066 movement which could be an A Schild (AS) 2066

    http://www.ranfft.de/cgi-bin/bidfun-...&2uswk&AS_2066

Yours may or may not have that movement or something similar. AS movements are fine.

There are many obscure brands from the 1960's and 1970's that made good serviceable watches which have survived but which are not particularly collectable. I have quite a few. Some I choose to spend money on because I like them.

    Hope that helps.

I don't know much about watches, but I like to have them and wear them

I will take it to the watch repairer, to check healthines of the mechanism and to do aesthetic repairs. If they let me, i will take a look inside and, hopefully, i will make a picture of the mechanism.

Thank you for the help and links, you made me understand some things

    Cheers!

Retail: Approximately four hundred (ф400.00) semollians, more or less. That's assuming it had a full COA (cleaning, oiling and adjustment). e
