Can anyone give me any info about this watch? It belonged to my father in law and was found in his dresser when he passed.Name: IMG_0242.JPG

Looks to be an imitation of the famous Vacheron & Constantin/LeCoultre Galaxy model. Very popular in the 1950's.

The watch is not a V&C, but 100% LeCoultre, which is a really good watch. I think the dual-branding is more for copyright reasons than anything else.

The Vacheron Constantin/LeCoultre importer was a division of Longines-Wittnauer, Inc. in the USA. I don't think this particular model was sold anywhere else.

I have one of those LeCoultre Galaxy watches. Mine is only 14k gold stamped on the back though. There's a rare Automatic on sale on the fleabay at the moment. It was only produced for the American market.

Anything similar is obviously a copy by another brand to be sold anywhere at cheaper cost. A person wanting to add a Galaxy or "Mystery Dial" as it's also known to their collection should try and get a LeCoultre one first.

    Hi!

Mikrolisk says: Alavente, Dawn Importing Co., Harrison, USA; registriert am 4.9.1972
Registered 1972/09/04 doesn´t mean that the brandname hasn´t been used before.

Looks like utter rubbish to me! But then again it's worn by royalty the world over... and possibly rappers!
Does it say at the dial: Movt Hong Kong?

    Re: Alavente

No royalty without a real Alavente on the wrist!
Google shows some pics - this Dawn Importing Co. seems to have traded cheap Swiss and Hongkong made watches with copied or built after designs of well known brands and bling own ones. Cheap warehouse junk goods in packages simulating high value products.
The first one, the "Bicentennial" has "Swiss Movement, Hong Kong made" on the dial. There´s one in the bay at the moment.
The LeCoultre Galaxy copy says "Swiss Made", another one additionally "17 Jewels" on the dial, so obviously a manual winded movement, probably the cheapest they could get.
Another model contains a cheap pin lever movement.
