    Another Certina Argonaut...

want to share with you my newest acquisition, a Certina Argonaut (with a hand winding 25-661). I love these non-DS Certinas, as you get them damn cheap (actually you pay a lot for that plastic ring in the DSs - nevertheless, I also will buy one once ).
    O.K. here's that Argonaut 280:

And here it's next to my Argonaut 285 with the automatic 919-1:

    Thanks for sharing my joy,

    Axel

That looks beautiful Axel, I love the contrast between the orange and blue. It looks to be in excellent condition as well, many congratulations. Out of interest (OK I admit I'll be going to the bay as soon as I've sent this ) what are the dimensions?

    Cheers

    Hi Axel -

Once again, you have exquisite taste.

The contrasts of the dark blue with the two different shades of orange reminds me of very late sunsets in New Mexico, with the rays of the setting sun up against dark grey stormclouds...

    Fantastic!

    JohnF

PS: Sorry we didn't have all that much time to talk yesterday, but it was a tad hectic...at least for me.

    It measures 37mm x 41mm w/o crown.
The condition is really good, but not NOS.

    Cheers,

Thanks a lot John and Ricardo!

John, we also didn't have too much time, but I'm sure we'll see eachother on one of the the next more socializing meetings (remind me then to take my black hand wounded Citizen with me )!

    Cheers,

    Axel

I love this 70's style. A great watch!

As to the DS series - you're right - this plastic ring is not worth paying a lot of money.

    Dziekuje bardzo!

Again, I do believe the Certina DS watches are great and still cheap watches, but the other lines, often with the same movement are completely under-rated.
O will not post rices now, as I don't want to impact the market in any ways, but please believe me I didn't pay more than 60 EUR (most of them <30 EUR) for any of my Certinas (incl. a NOS):

    Hi Alex -

    Great buys.

Many of my watches are also around your price point, but I go for the 1950s/1960s look, which usually means that they are optically more than a tad battered. But so far I've had fantastic luck mechanically...
