    Another flea-market find: Helvetia Prestige

My regular flea market has been coming up trumps lately. First was an Edox, then a few weeks ago I scored a very nice Citizen Newmaster, and now, it's turned up a 1970s Helvetia Prestige automatic. Saw this one a week ago, picked it up Saturday, and I'm posting it today as I've been having internet problems.

Gold plated case in reasonable condition (slight wear to the underside of the case, but you can't have everything). Crystal is OK, but I will probably end up replacing it. Crown may be original, but its not signed. The movement is a very clean ETA 2822 with a beautiful finish in copper. Looks like it was made yesterday:

Not a bad buy for the (reasonable) price.

I dunno about that. You got that Gruen for $10.

Anyway, I find Helvetia's logo to be very cool, although I'm not exactly sure what it is.

Great find... looks in top condition!

(Joe - you are getting up too late... the JL's of this world have snapped up all the goodies by the time you get there!!)

The couple or carboot sales near me... there are 3 or 4 guys running around like headless chickens trying to get to vintage watches... and yes.. they would push you out the way to get to a watch...

Good thing is, they do miss just as many as they hoover up!

Ideally you would get there in the first hour....

Yes, but that sat in my "to do" box for about a year...My last good pull ($17 Bulova with original bracelet was 3 months ago).

I got a watch monkey on my back...

I won't show you the king seiko I bought for £4... The seller told me the battery was flat... The hi-beat auto actually kept perfect time!
