Another interesting one en route... Crusader Watch!

Another posting before I have the watch in hand....

A Crusader watch... plastic dust cover.... in a sterling silver Dennison case... which I think dates to 1933!

    As listed:

The watch is fully wound.... so... non runner.... and I dont know what the movement is!

I asked the seller some questions... came back with this...

the dennison inside the case says
    british made
    an anchor for birmingham silver
a capital "J" for the year
    ALD for makers initials
    the number 618231
    with a "w " below this
the strap thats currently on the watch is 21 MM wide, the lugs appear to be 22 MM wide

There is limited info on the net..... Came accross this on another site..... shame the OP has removed the pics!

    TZ-UK • Information

But as mentioned on page 2... plastics like this were produced at the end of the 20s....

Luckily for me.... 'The Font' Marrick, had provided info on the brand on this thread:

    https://forums.watchuseek.com/f11/any...nd-538829.html

Only 2 threads came up when searching vintage forum for 'crusader'.....

So, anyone seen anything like this? Got any info you would like to share??

Such covers were used in 1930s Bulova as well, good idea to keep out the meddling fingers. I hadn't seen this from Dennison before, so - great info.

    I like it, great catch!

    Thanks Trim....

As this watch along with another had just been listed.... I asked for a buy it now on both... so should be getting this also....

Think its another Font!!! which could be good... as i am building up quite a stock!

This, I think dates to 1924.....

Slow up buying Marc! There'll be none left soon.

Congrats - yet again. I have bid on a couple of Crusaders a while back - it, and your black no-name, look very nice.

Nor me. Sometimes I just have to keep away from ebay altogether.

Correct. I bid on far more than I win - it keeps the average price down.

Personally I'm just waiting until Marc switches focus to something else, then I'll go back to hunting my trench watch bargains

    Agreed... The dial makes it....

There are a bunch of processes I need to learn... plus a bunch of tools I need to get.... which may result in a reduced spend on watches.

I think I would practice on some other dials first.....
