Some of you may possibly have seen my posts on the French Ultra brand and its associates Altitude and Mirus. This week, to go alongside my 4 other members of the Ultra stable, I've managed to get hold of an Ultra I've not seen or heard of before, an Ultra Prestige.
The seller's photo and description were not too revealing:
"In good condition and working order" with no information on, or photo of, the movement.
After a good clean up, I've got a nice looking, big for the 1950's at 34mm, watch.
Opening the French 1950's Bagobloc SGDG back, found typically on many makers output of watches a "step up" from their more general production, there is a Jeambrun 26D 17 jewel movement:
I'll update my Ultra/Altitude/Mirus thread at a later date, by which time I'm hoping that a highly respected member here will have added an Altitude to his collection.
