    Any info on Paragon Watches?

    Morning all,

I've just picked up this watch over ebay:

But haven't been able to find any info other than one other similar watch on ebay. Apparently Swiss Made, manual winding with 4 jewels but thats all i know...

Has anyone got info on these watches?

    Chris

There were various Paragons, one of them being associated with Amida. This would fit the "4 jewels" which is a low count and suggests that there is a pin lever movement inside, possibly somethig like this:

The watch arrived in a bad way - at some point during the postal process the minute hand has been dislodge and the hour hand is fixed in place even thought the watch is ticking away.... it's a shame as it's quite a nice looking little watch:

Well its the Amida logo under the name Paragon, but that movement doesn't appear in the Pink Pages. Does the hour hand move with the crown pulled out?

The hour hand does move - I've gently removed the mechanism and managed to re-fit the hand, but we'll have to see if it works! Seems to be functioning but will need to check if it continues to do so...

The only pin lever movement I can name offhand with the balance cock coming out from the centre is the Roseba Cal. 8 series:

    Maybe this is a "relative".....?!

Well it's working... sort of. Stops for 30 mins and then carries on as if nothing happened :S

A problem, and I've no idea how to solve it: Pin levers scarcely pass my auction, and therefore are poorly represented in my archive. These were disposables, and most followed this intention. I look continuously for watches with movements missing in my archive, and buy them occasionally just for this purpose. But most sellers of cheap watches don't do the effort to open watches for a photo, and I can't buy watches just because they are suspicious to have a searched movement.

Moreover I should restrict to watches which I can resell without loss, at least by average. But many (if not most) pin levers have since long exceeded their natural life time, and can't be resold with good conscience.

However, for pin levers it is always a good chance on Cristoph's Watch world:
The Metatechnical Cabinet - Christophs Watch World
There you'll find many pin levers which are missing im my archive.

    Regards, Roland Ranfft

Fully understood and appreciated. I already have Christoph's site bookmarked on my toolbar next to yours and visit in frequently. But in this case, he doesn't have it either.
