Probably the price when new, a Westclox was my very first watch, no jewels, I think my father paid $7.95 for it. It may have lasted a year, its main competitor, Timex.
It took a licking, but didn't do much ticking after that.

Probably if you post images of the movement and both sides of the case back, you'll get some informed replies. Your image of the dial doesn't show, but is anything written under the "6" that you can see from a different angle?

    Regards.

A Westclox with 17 jewels?! It would be interesting to see what's inside.....

I'm at the docs right now I'll take some pics later but there's nothing by the 6 and not much on the back.. Antimagnetic shock proof and base metal Stainless Steel back.. The winding action is pretty dam solid for being somewhat old.. Like it sat in someone's dresser for years..ive read some have Seiko movements inside ..any clue what year years? The dial just has westclox and 17 jewels

Couple things I like.. Very clean dial very little writing and the seconds and minute hand are bent slightly at the ends so they curve with the dial.. The dial has a curve starting at the chapter ring

    I had a Westclox with a Jeambrun 17 jewel movement, 26D I think. French.
