Anybody know the make of this watch?

    Hi,
I bought this watch on a whim- it was suggested that maybe was made by Rolls Royce. The diameter is 3cm. I can't find anything on the web about it. Can anybody enlighten me?

    Hi and welcome
Looks like a ROLLS. May be made by Leon Hatot, but I am not sure till I see movement pics.

But what is exciting it has a sweep seconds (indirect I suspect) hand with original seconds hand
Can you post pictures of movement and inside case

Can someone explain to me, what a 'watchproof' watch is meant to be?

After all's been said and done, there's a lot more said than done...

Well, the hands immediately made me think of https://forums.watchuseek.com/f11/naw...s-1090185.html. But the case style looks much later.

It would not be unreasonable to suspect that it was intended for use in the medical profession, but that's speculation of course.

I can find a couple of references to 'watchproof' - such as Chilton's Jewelers' Circular/keystone 1970 Jewelers' Directory Issue - Google Books but they just seem to be printing errors for waterproof.

Mikrolisk gives 4 hits on Rolls. 3 Swiss and one German company. Watchproof = maybe that you can always see the time????

I think it's just 'waterproof' but the letters have faded. Rolls had also an early automatic mechanism, but I've never seen it in a round-case.I think it's not that version.Let's see case-back and movement.

That was the Leon Hattot (ATO ROLLS) referred in my first post.
i doubt it can be that, due to the round shape, but it could be another manual Rolls, or it may be a Gallet movement.

we need to see movement pics.

Re: Anybody know the make of this watch?

Thanks for the comments! Unfortunately the watch and I are in two different places at the moment and I haven't had time to
sit down and take the back off. Sorry, that's not a very helpful comment but I'm looking forward to getting my hands on it again
in December and investigating the movement. It was advertised as a men's watch but it seems too small, even for a vintage piece.
I assumed the strap had been added at a later date but it seems it could fit the picture if it's (possibly) a nurse's watch.

    I did some checking
ROLLS was a trademark of BLANCPAIN SA.
But that may have been for the production of Leon Hatot's selfwinding wristwatch.
