Anyone out there know anything about this watch?

Someone gave me this old Swiss watch more than 20 years ago; it didn't run then, and doesn't look like it has in a long time. Just curious if anyone knows anything about what this might be, beyond the obvious.

There is no incablock,so I'd say its watch from 1930s or 1940s.Style of the dial and hands are from that period. And its in bad condition.

I can't help but agree with the previous assessment. The movement looks like something by Felsa, e.g. a Cal. 335 derivative (precise calibre code seems to be under the balance - Cal. 290?!):

It was a nice watch once. The case and dial could be reused, but with the amount of rust I'm seeing on the movement, you'd probably need to transplant a new one, or at least swap a lot of new parts into it. The DYR import code on the balance links to "Den Ro" as the "maker". Couldn't find a lot of info on the company, but a fair number of their watches survived.

The knotted lugs were a popular '50s period style, also used by Benrus, Bulova and Gruen amongst others.

I think the watch is 50's not 30-40s.

So Universal Geneve is Top of the line brand while Continental Geneve is mid-grade, I guess National Geneve would would be a low end with maybe a pin lever movement .

Joking aside I just received a watch yesterday with similar movement an unbranded no name felsa 294

also received an Accro Bond with the Den-Ro mark on it, it is an eta 1080. Must be coincidence.

    I'm a watchbreaker not a watchmaker.
