Here is my latest arrival the aquastar benthos 500. How did I get to Aquastar, it is a long story. It started with an aquastar seatime that I bought at a watchmaker in 1996 and I kept it during a year. Knowing it couldn't be made waterproof because it is non screwded crown and because the seals and gaskets weren't made for it anymore, I sold it without any regret. This watch was fitted with an AS Movement. Later, I discovered a blog showing pics of the Benthos 500 and I interested myself to this watch. A friend of my uncle (a guy who had a carreer in the swiss army) used his from 1968 till 2005 in all kind of activity in any weather. This friend in question bought a double red sea dweller and gave his benthos to my uncle as a present of rememberance. My uncle gave me that watch for christmas 2009.
The watch is back from restoration. Case has been slightly rebrushed, hands changed by nos ones, bezel and bezel mechanism were restored, selas and waterproofness were redone and tested and accuracy tested in six positions an reulated to +5 sec per day.
As you can see in photographs, the benthos isn't a small watch, it is comparable to a plo prof or a sm 1000 in terms of case thickness.
