    Atlantic / Doxa

I am looking at an ebay auction on 2 watches. An Atlantic and a Doxa.
What the seller did was take a working Doxa and replace the dial with the Atlantic. He also brushed the housing to get rid of the pits.
Still has the Doxa dial and a dissembled Atlantic watch (the movement is dissembled.)
Question is... if I put the doxa dial back on the working watch what would the Doxa be worth approximately?
also how much would it cost around to get the Atlantic put back together and what would the finished product be worth.
    Approximations obviously.
I am new to vintage watches but LOVE the look of a vintage watch.
Just bought a Timex 1975 Automatic and waiting for it to come in.
    thanks in advanced.

    Atlantic / Doxa

I would assume the seller swapped dials to maximise the value of the watches and assuming you would need to pay someone to do this work for you then I'm struggling to see any value in this for you.

It would be neither a Doxa or an Atlantic. It might be an attractive watch, but in terms of re-sale (if you ever wanted to, for example), I think you'd be pretty certain to struggle to sell such a watch. It's what watch collecting enthusiasts - the people here, for example – would call a franken watch, 'franken' coming from Frankenstein and so not meant as a compliment in the context. Neither original watch is particularly expensive and I'd say that you are near what you might pay for an unaltered one.

I'd pay nothing, as I wouldn't want it. Apart from the Frankenisation, that case is ruined. It looks like a basemetal case that has had the plating scrubbed off with a wire brush It's very poorly done. Ugghh - it requires a complete case refinishing and plating, and at that I don't think it would be worth the effort.

As for recreating the Doxa - the Doxa dial looks to be damaged.

Save a Doxa search in eBay and wait for the right one.
