    Aurora Watch Company

I was fortunate to be able to pick this one up this past weekend.

Aurora was around for a relatively short amount of time, and had an estimated total production of a little over 100,000 watch. The design of their watches was heavily influenced by the neighboring Illinois Watch Company in Springfield(from where many of the employees came). The watches also share a fair bit in common with 18 size Hamiltons, as after the failure of Aurora, the machinery was shipped to Lancaster, PA and used in the construction of Hamilton watches.

I've wanted one for my collection for a while, but have been waiting for the right one in the right condition at the right price. I'm quite happy with this one.

    Re: Aurora Watch Company

With aurora only making watches from 1883 to 1892 they are a little scarce. I have one in my collection.
