    AWWCO 1893 Model 88

A scarce one with its original silver case, not usual gold, double sunk dial, 21j with 3 faceted diamond caps visible, open face, first production. These are Waltham records listed as 17j but 17j is rarest and 19j most common. Maybe less than 200 like this one? artb Had to choose poor image for mvnt. because of resolution limit.

    Re: AWWCO 1893 Model 88

    Art,

I recall Bill Tapp saying a while back that these(along with the 99 Bridge models and the various Riverside Maximus watches) always had 4 diamond endstones. Sometimes they are seen as(visible) caps on the balance, fork, and escape wheel and sometimes as two pairs on the balance and escape wheel. You might want to ask Bill about this-you're in a better position to ask him than I am.

I do know that I've never seen a Waltham with a diamond endstone on the balance wheel that did not also have a diamond on the pillar plate. This is certainly true on Vanguards, which were a significant step below the various AWCo and Riverside Maximus watches. I've also seen the same on Illinois and Elgin watches with a diamond endstone-if there's one on the balance cock, there will be one on the pillar plate.
