    Re: Baume & mercier chronograph

In doing research for my recent Baume & Mercier chronograph, I found the older ones had Landeron 248 movements like yours, but it usually has the company name on the movement. Try searching the Internet for "Baume & Mercier Landeron 248". If you get a movement pic, you will see what I mean.

I think the only thing that looks authentic to Baume & Mercier is the dial. The case and pushers also look wrong.

The incabloc on the back looks wrong. I have a few dozen generic vintage watch cases with the exact incablock engravings. The case is probably a repop.

I think you might be missing the point. It's probably not a baume and mercier at all. Its probably some generic chronograph from the same era that someone has slapped an old B&M dial on in order to increase it's resale value.

That's what I was trying to say too Rob. The used Landeron 248's in their watches, so the dial fits, but outside of the dial, everything else is from another watch.

Here is the movement from my watch. It is a Valjoux 72C, not a Landeron, but you can see how they would have identified their movement:

Well, even outside the labeling, take a look at the chronograph parts; on yours they're polished and beveled; the OP's looks like they were used straight from the machine that made them.
