Black Starr and Frost - Antique Travel Clock - info requested - NYC

I found this Black Starr and Frost travel clock in my grandparents attic years back and keep it in my room on display. It doesn't work and I would love to get it ticking again. I took it to a repair shop in NYC and was told it needs a gear that is impossible to find. Any suggestions of a repair center in NYC or any general information on the clock/brand would be appreciated...

Sorry not really and so many differend 8 days movements wasn't build. I can't read what is writen above I guess "france" on the movement cock. Maybe this helps to find something out.
Really a nice clock with this mother of pearl dial and emerald email. I hope you can find a spare part list and the missing gear.

    Regards Silke

Addition: It looks quite simular to those which was used in PW also. I'd checked: Octavia/Grazley Freres ; Omega, Thommen, Jacot&Bovet , Doxa without any match. Optical the most close have been a etherna but they would mark their movement in another way. On the watch is writen france therefore Hypolyte Parrenin, who build definetly alarm clocks, was a candidate but I don't find a picture of a 8 day movement. I'm very sorry

Impossible to find but not impossible to make. Not sure what "gear" is bad or how but that is not a death sentence for the clock. A broken pivot.... a clockmaker/watchmaker can drill out the old pivot and replace it. Broken teeth on a gear... same person could replace the teeth where they are missing. The issue comes in with cost. A skilled watch or clock maker is not very common and they are not cheap if they are skilled.

The clock you have is rather nice. This retailer is one of the better ones and can be grouped in with Tiffany. The case is enameled silver with a gold gilt interior and of course that MOP dial. This was not a cheap clock at the time.

I have a 8 day that has been an on going project for well over a year. It took me that long to find a parts movement for a winding wheel that was missing and I lucked out that it had the hands I needed too. I am at the point that all it needs now is a crystal. Yours has a family history so all the more reason to go for it.

Thank you for the reply! I'm going to search around for a reputable watchmaker to get this back and running...
