Does anything about this one look real? Only 20 mins to go I'm afraid.

A prescient summary, nice cut 'n paste of the bid history stats too. Of course you can't contact any of the bidders to warn them and I was yelling at the screen as it counted down! No reply from the seller to three further emails either with the final one telling him I'd reported the sale as a counterfeit item.

Came across this WUS thread earlier...

The movement looks to be exactly the same in this one. Shanghai 'B' series automatic according to one poster. Jeez, is it worth rollocking Ebay any further concerning the illegal hawking of this mechanical turd? Probably not, if I didn't have so many other more urgent fish to fry right now I certainly would.

Funny - I always thought the 'Saxomat' to be a semi-automatic electro-pneumatic gearbox invented for the low-hp Volkswagen 'Beetle' in the 1950's It was named by the 'Fichtel & Sachs' Company who made small motor bikes (under the 'Hercules' brand), bicycles ('Sachs', 'Hercules') and little two-stroke engines for motorbikes, lawnmowers etc.

Had no idea they were in watches, too

So it is the same with buyers.

Ebay make their cut of the deal regardless so they don't care. The only promising way to act is to inform the holder of rights, but often they don't care either. I once reported a Radiomir fake to Officine Panerai (who apparently acted as the listing was deleted within hours), but reporting Rolex- or Omega counterfeits is a pointless exercise.

So if the rights' owners don't care, why should I?

You do realise all auctions have a report button for this?
Don't waste time emailing manufacturers or sellers, just report the listing.

Yes, I do know. And after I replied to some 23 more or less meaningless questions, nothing happens. Ebay is not interested, period. That's the sad truth.

If they were interested, there would be a button "Report counterfeit listing", and a department next to their "Power Seller Relations Department" dealing with that. But as long as ebay gets away with "hey, we're just the platform! And by the way, thank you for all that cash" this won't happen.

Thus it is even more pointless to use said button...
