    Brooklyn Watch Co.

Hi, can anyone help me identify this watch maker. The case is dated 1884 with Birmingham hallmarks. The watch case has a three masted ship as a trade mark with "Brooklyn Watch Co." underneath. I've searched on the internet and can find no evidence of the watch maker, although the case has a makers mark of Samuel Whitford II.

I would appreciate any help with this.

    Regards

    Torrean

We'd be able to be of much better assistance with some pictures of the movement.

Just to soften the blow, we should probably point out that Swiss fakes of American watches are considered collectable these days, and in fact they tell an important part of the story of the state of the global watch industry at that point in history.

Yes we have had several in here and most of them are nice watches in their own right. They are also quite collectible. At least one Swiss fake fooled Eeeb and myself for quite a while before we figured out what it was.

Let's set the record straight... it fooled me and fooled Ray - for a while!
"Forever is composed of nows." - Emily Dickinson

"The watch has to be surrounded by a history.
You need more than just a great design. You need to create an atmosphere around the product.
Who is the company behind it? Why are they using this material?
People need to be able to identify the watch with themselves. It's based on emotion." - Ralph Furter

...that's just my opinion and I've been wrong before and will be again and might be now!

It looks like a Swiss fake to me from the photos.
