    Bulova 11 ANAC

    Hello,

I'm trying to find out if this movement is any good. I've searched all over and haven't had much luck. I know the following and what can be found on R. Ranfft's site:

    Auto, sweep second
    17/23 jewels
    From mid-70's, I believe

What I'm trying to find out is if this movement is low-quality and/or very entry-level, or if it's high-grade, or what? I have no idea, other than knowing Bulovas from that time or a little sooner were pretty solid watches.

For example, how would it compare in quality, or maybe even prestige, with a basic ETA 2824?

    Regards,

I've had a few ANACs. They've always been reliable to me and there are no obvious reasons why they shouldn't be to you. As long as its serviced regularly that is.

    Re: Bulova 11 ANAC

The auto's Bulova put out at that time, with the exception of maybe the indirect cannon pinion 30 jewel movement, are still great movements. Properly serviced and in good condition, you'll probably never see a hiccup at all.

As far as grade/quality, it depends how you're viewing it. It's not a Brietling in-house movement or something viewed as "high grade", but Bulova was very precise with their manufacturing and made watches as reliable as about anyone else. If you're asking if the watch can run and keep time as good as just about any other quality watch, the answer is definitely yes.

    Just my input, anyway.

    Try this:

    http://www.phfactor.net/wtf/Bulova%2...,%20D,%20B.pdf

From what it says, the Bulova 11 ANAC is a good workhorse. Not as slim as the elegant ETA 2892 but about the same dimensions as the ETA 2824. Bidirectionally winding with click wheels (just like the ETA movements). The main drawback in comparison with the ETA movements is that it doesn't seem to have a ball bearing for the rotor. Othertwise, nothing to suggest that it won't last. But then, I don't own one so I have no hands on experience here.....
