    Bulova Accutron beat frequency

I'm trying to figure out the beat frequency (or equivalent) of a Bulova Accutron.

According to wikipedia, Accutrons "use a 360 hertz tuning fork," meaning 360 cycles per second.

But according to another website, (eBay Accutron Wristwatch), the tuning fork "vibrates at a rate between 300 and 720 times per second".

    Why the discrepancy?

If I stick with 360 Hz, my calculation is that equates to 360 x 60 x 60 = 1.296 million beats per hour (bph). Amazing!

Please feel free to correct my math.

there is a thread started here a few weeks ago about "pre-quartz electrics" . Two of the members who responded gave excellent answers for freq. And they also went into how the newer 1.5v bayberries effect beat rate as opposed to the 1.3v that should be used. try the forum search button. good luck

The first and primary Accutrons, models 214 and 218, used tuning forks
that resonated at 360 Hz. Some of the later models operated at higher
frequencies. The Swiss copies, which I guess were licensed, operated
at 300 Hz or 720 Hz, and even 256 Hz, but not the Accutrons.

    Hi there,

enter "bulova" into the search box on top right of this page:
    bidfun-db Archive: Watch Movements
This will display a list of Bulova movements, and you can select the one, you want to know the frequency of.

It's ok to push someone down the rabbit hole if they ask for it.

    The Accutron Watch Page

This is one of the best websites for technical minutiae I've found. It has all of your frequency specifications across licensed tuning fork movements.
