    Can someone identify this watch

Hello, I was given my Grandfather's old watch but I know nothing about it, can someone maybe get something from the serial nr? Age? When I Google the brand it tells me nothing, could the brand be Swedish?

I intend to have it serviced and use it.

Yes, the mikrolisk database indicates that the brand is Swedish. It would be interesting to see what movement is inside.

B.S. Hüttners AB sold Bore and Runa as well as Svalan but not much is known of the brands. They were made by Swiss ASUAG for the Swedish firm.

So... my citys' best watchmaker has struck me with a verdict. It is a very fine watch in his opinion, looks good and nice size etc. He estimates it is early 1960s so your cirka 1956 estimate could very well be the truth.

Here comes the killing blow however:
It is very worn out inside, having been used for some 40 years and then being in storage for some 10-15 years more. It would need not just a service but a restoration and he estimated the cost to almost 700 USD, which i'm not able to pay atm. I will take it back and keep it, and perhaps after having worked for a while (graduate in august) i might be able to restore it. I was looking forward to wearing my grandfathers old watch but I'll have to come up with something else.

    the price is a joke
I am sure it has some common movement inside for which one could find a donor and use it for needed parts
a donor would cost a little fraction of a whopping 700

He's asking permission to rob you.

As said above, unscrew the back and post a picture of the movement.

I have a few of these watches and a bunch of movements so yes he is trying to pull a fast one. Even if the movement was only a rusty heap a new movement would only set you back $30-40.

I wouldn't pay that much to repair it. You should look around more and hopefully find a more economical option.

I am not restoring it there/now, but I will need to find a person who can fix this sometime during the summer when I've more time to deal with it.

Does anyone know of a good guy/gal who does these kind of things around the gothenburg area?

I will not restore it now at that store, but I still must say that I have full faith in that watchmaker, it has a reputation of being the best in town here and I'm sure that's the case. What made him run the price up that much however I don't know. I'll pay the 20usd fee for having them take a look at it and solve the issue some other time.
