Picture Can you tell me about this old pocket watch? (pics)

    Hi everyone

This is my first post here and I've browsed around quite a bit and read the FAQ so if for some reason this type of post isn't in the right sub forum, my apologies... I'm trying! haha.

I don't know squat about watches. This was my grandfather's watch that he got from someone else during WWII. We recently took it into a watch repairman who said its solid gold and worth about $5k in scrap gold. He couldn't really tell us anything about it except that he thinks its russian and would be willing to take it apart and look at it further but that would take 3 months or so.

I was hoping maybe some of you could tell me more about it... I took pictures of all of the identifying marks and stuff. And seriously... talk to me like I'm stupid because I know absolutely nothing about watches. Like, I assume the 14k mark is referring to the gold content... haha... and that's it, that's all I know about its markings.

Thanks in advance for any info you can tell me about it. (including "this is just an old piece of junk" or whatever... we're just curious to know more about it!)

A picture of the movement would help. There is a post in the Links and Articles on how to open these cases.

It is, at a minimum, a solid 14kt gold piece of junk! LOL

"The watch has to be surrounded by a history.
You need more than just a great design. You need to create an atmosphere around the product.
Who is the company behind it? Why are they using this material?
People need to be able to identify the watch with themselves. It's based on emotion." - Ralph Furter

...that's just my opinion and I've been wrong before and will be again and might be now!
