Can you tell me anything about this Monvis pocket watch?

I recently acquired an inexpensive pocket watch (my first) and am unable to find any information about it online, so I'm hoping someone here might be able to tell me about the watch. I'm thinking it's probably from the 1950s or thereabouts.

I'd appreciate any information you can provide.

    Thanks,

    hondo1

Monvis were a brand of Dux SA in Biel. You would need to open the back up and show the movement for a more accurate estimate but it looks inter-war to me. Possibly a watch made as a prize in a shooting competition (Zenith made some such watches, although the decoration is confined to the case, none on the dial).

Here's a shot with the back open:

As I suspected, it has a post WWII Unitas pocket watch calibre. Possibly an Unitas 6497 (now sold as the ETA 6497):

The precise calibre code should be under the balance wheel.

One puzzle, the 6497 is a 17 jewel movement. The movement in this watch is 15 jewels. Definitely a Unitas though.

No, the old, first version of the Unitas 6497 came in a 15 jewel version (check the details in the link I gave above).
