    Certina Identification

I have read great things about vintage Certinas. Can anyone please help me identify what year/model name this Certina belongs too?

Does this have the famous DS (Double Security)? I believe DS began in 1959.

    Thanks!

No DS but it is from ca 1959-60 so the same time period. 20 Micron Gold plate with a rare 23-20 caliber (at least here in Sweden). The crown looks to be a more modern replacement but in general not bad looking for a plated watch.

Thanks! Since the crown seems to be replaced, I am guessing this is a frankenwatch then?

No, not at all. A crown is a part that wears out and watchmakers just put on a new crowns that they had in stock. As it has the newer Certina logo a crown with that logo is preferable but a period correct crown would do as well. Gold Certina crown are hard to find nowadays so you take what you can get.

Thanks! It was an impulse purchase, but I am glad it worked out!

The movement looks really nice and any watchmaker can service it.
