    Charles Rosat detent chronometer

    Hi
i have a very rare pocket watch movement made by Charles Rosat in 1904. Has his patent n*30761 for the balance regulator. Detent chronometer escapement, with breguet hairspring, gold screws, gold return detent spring and a gold escape wheel.
Someone could help me finding more information about it?
And, could someone tell me how to adjust the detent spring?
    thanks!!

I can't help you but a sensational movement for a Zenith pocket watch collector. Just for me and a few guys here . Can you show a bigger picture of the dial side from the movement ?

    Kind regards Silke

    Hi
Charles rosat worked for Zenith. Maybe this is the prototype because is not signed as Zenith, but is nearly identical.Name: image.jpg

Yes, the basic is definetly a Zenith movement. A very few Zenith signed watches with return detent spring and rosat regulage excist. Unfortunately not within my budget but its gread to see details of this movement. Thanks a lot for this chance. I hope the restauration will be successful.

    Calm hands Silke

Now that is an interesting watch, I've never saw this patented 'balance regulator' before.

This will adjust the beat rather than the rate as it is moving the hairspring stud rather than moveable curb pins
from what I can tell...this is a good thing as it is a chore to put a chronometer escapement to beat.

What do you mean by 'adjust the detent spring'? what problems are you having?
Is this a pivoted detent with a spring tail or a spring detent to Arnold/ Ernshaw design, can't tell from the pics as plate
    is covering detent mount.
I have experience with both types and will help you if I can.

Gread radger this movement MUST tick perfect again.

As a little addition: The Rosat regulage with the mobil studholder you can found on "normal" (no physical chronometer) also. The first variation Patent CH21639 (November 1900) without a counter pressure and the later one as shown above Patent CH24677 (Februar 1902). I'm a bid confused about the mentioned number 30761.

Attached Rosatregulages on normal Zenith pocket watches with the Patent numbers on the cock:

    Re: Charles Rosat detent chronometer

The movement is filally back to life!! I have serviced it today. I had no problems. All was is EXELLENT shape.
I would like to post a video of the running watch, but I can't. Also, I' ve changed the minute and hour hands because they where not original with a pair of blued breguet hands.
The Zénith movements you show are really beautifull!
The adjusting of the deténte is done. I ment by how to adjust the deténte because I found that it had an oval hole for the holding screw, so the piece could move all directions.
After 5:30 hours of service, and tiny adjustments, the watch is alive. The patent was very useful for the regulation.
I will post pictures of movement parts. I have decided to case up the movement in a steel case, with glass in the front and the back. This will help the conservation.
