    Columbus 16 size r.r. by D. Gruen

In persuing watches by Gruen I got an interesting one. Info from NAWCC Bulletins: Gruen originated the Columbus grades 46,47,48 in 1888. Hunter and open face. 1889 ad shows this 46 cheapest at $40.with 15j but rated for r.r. service. It was only one made with the odd Gruen designed regulator. Shown in ad only with Nickel plates. Serial 97000+ is for 1889. So a good early uncommon 16 size U.S. Gruen example. However, this one not marked adjusted necessary for actual r.r. use.

Next time you are in Columbus, I'll take you by the watches birthplace!

Interesting regulator. I wish I knew more about them as I have no idea why some are made the way they are.

"The watch has to be surrounded by a history.
You need more than just a great design. You need to create an atmosphere around the product.
Who is the company behind it? Why are they using this material?
People need to be able to identify the watch with themselves. It's based on emotion." - Ralph Furter

...that's just my opinion and I've been wrong before and will be again and might be now!
