    A couple of old Bulovas

Grandfather's Bulova 23 retirement watch from about 1960, well-used and still running. seems to have it all- sunburst dial, fancy lugs, pie crust bezel, six adjustments. the case is approx 30mm, and the band is a typical speidel twist-of-flex of later vintage

my first watch, 1969 Bulova Sea King. this was gift I received in the mid 1970s. approx 33mm case. sadly it is not currently running, but it will eventually be serviced and put on a brown or tan leather strap (if I can find something suitable in a 17mm width)

    Very nice Bulovas.
Especially I like the blue one. I think it would be great looking on a blue leather as well. Like this

Nice Bulova watches you have. Your grandfather's Bulova 23 was the more expensive version of the Bulova 23 line. The regular Bulova 23 watches were not adjusted. The more expensive ones were adjusted in 6 positions making it more accurate at time of purchase.

The date the watch was made can be found by looking for the date code on the case back. The Bulova 23 should be Lx(the x being a number) or a Mx for ether the 1950's(L) or 1960's (M)

thanks for the info. the date code is really really small on that one, and is L5... putting it a bit earlier than what I thought (retirement was 1961, iwrc)

A wonderful family heirloom wristwatch. Thanks for sharing.
