    Cousins strange response

I was looking at the Cousins and Ofrei sites for the crystal no. for a Rolex 7934 case plus screwdriver blades etc.
Whilst on the Cousins site I lodged an enquiry for: Rolex 7934 bezel and got following reply.
Unfortunately parts restricted by Swatch and are currently unavailable”
    What!!!

Are the parts restricted to Cousins by Rolex? Or are the Rolex parts already held by Cousins restricted only to Rolex authorized repairers?

Don’t know but what’s Swatch got to do with Rolex cases. I know Tudor now has or is in-house brands as eta is Swatch.

I think that the reference to Swatch is a mis-type, probably based on Swatch also applying supply restrictions. As for Rolex restricting parts to authorised repairers; that is consistent with what Rolex have been doing globally in recent years.

Well, Swatch has a very unpleasant policy to restrict parts for their numerous brands to authorized dealers (involving also ETA as a movement maker). That sentence had been repeated so often, that it is unintentionally used when it comes to unavailable watch parts, presumably as part of the automated text building blocks.

So, perhaps, you will see a sign 'private event' at a restaurant one day with a wedding party inside, and the waiter will tell you 'restricted by Swatch', having forgotten the original meaning...

If parts are restricted by Rolex to authorized repair shops only. I doubt Cousins would have the parts as these may only be held by the distributor. Why would they sell them to Cousins when they could sell them directly to watchmakers.

Maybe they have older parts before Rolex restricted them

The way Cousins currently get Rolex and Omega parts is buying them from watchmakers and watch services who are authorized to get them and deside to re-sell. This kind of action is sanctioned by Rolex and Swatch, but somebody always does it. If a part is not offered to Cousins by some one, there is no way to get it.

Like Ofrei, I'm sure they still have a (rapidly diminishing) stock of parts in their inventory.

I think what they are trying to say is that they contacted Swatch to get your Rolex bezel and Swatch declined to sell them one.
