A Curious Ringo (No, not the drummer).

Newly in to me today is this little beauty. Approximately 33mm including the crown with 15mm lug width. The case is in very good condition, aside from a bit of dirt and some finger prints.

I can't find anything about "Ringo" using the usual methods, and the movement has me stumped as well. There are no markings aside from 17 Jewels. Under the balance is what looks like the Swiss Cross in a shield, and some numbers that I can't make it.

It sort of looks like an FHF 70 or derivative, but I just don't know.

    Anyway, here's a look.

    Neat watch.

Lorsa used the Swiss cross motif for their logo. Might be a good place to start.

I think you may have got it.

I looks like a Lorsa 238. Maybe an earlier version since there is no shock protection.

Spot on. It is a Lorsa - calibre 238, to be precise:
bidfun-db Archive: Watch Movements: Lorsa 238

EDIT: ManOnTime found the answer while I was typing. I don't think it's an earlier movement, i.e. from the period when shock devices weren't common. I think it was just a more "budget-friendly" piece, or intended for a market, where the customers didn't care about that.

At the risk of being pedantic, I find all Ringo watches to, in a sense, be "curious".
