    Darwil Info please

Just aquired a nice looking Darwil watch, 70's style I think with a Unitas movement. Signed all over including the crown.

I know nothing of this brand except that someone told me that the brand was very popular in Yugoslavia in the 60's and 70's.

Can someone help with some info please

    Cheers

Obscure brand. Sorry haven't any info on it. It certainly looks like a 1970s style of watch.

    From a dealer's site:

    http://www.clockmaker.com.au/sold.html

Darwil watches were Swiss export to Italian and Central European market. They were known as trustworthy and reliable time-keepers.

If you google the name you will find a lot of examples - often very nice looking watches - and a lot of results from Poland and other central/eastern parts of Europe.

This refers to the factory being in liquidation:

Here is a chronograph by Darwil

    This discussion on another forum

    http://www.chronocentric.com/forums/...mes;read=21376

confirms that it was a major brand in Yugoslavia and includes the assertion that Darwil was bought by a Swiss company CHOISSIE.

Please don't PM me to ask for a valuation - I won't attempt one.

    good quality for the price
they were popular in former Yugoslavia and East Europe
they used Unitas 6325 but movements were signed by Darwil
in chronograps they used Landeron movement
    price range today is from 10 US$ to 60-70 US$ (chrono-200-250 US$)

    nice watch
