    Question Dilemma Solved

Hi folks, This week I bought my forst pocket watches. I already have an extensive collection of vintage wrist watches now i wanted pocket watches. Now i have 6 in the post on the way to me so i started thinking about how i was going to display them.

I already have lots of display stands for wrist watches but nothing for pocket watches. So i started looking around...... I found lots of over priced stands that held 1 pocket watch made from wood and or brass. But since i have multiple pocket watches on the way how could i display them all. There seem to be no stands available to hold more than 1 watch.

Enter a little kiwi ingenuity and some tools and i found the answer.
i went to the local hardware store and bought some Jarrah timber some screws and some gold tone hooks.

The result is a stand that will hold 9 pocket watches and look fantabulous.

I am not going to profess to be a carpenter but i have some basic skills to put some bits of wood together.

I even thought there might be a market for this sort of thing.

Look at the pics and tell me what you think.

It will work, nice idea. Please repeat the photosession when the watches are in so that we may see how the final result will be. I use wooden boxes with glass display top for some of my pocketwatches, each holding 12 watches.

It looks very nice, but it also looks a bit unstable...or maybe that's just me being pedantic.

That will fall over. The base needs to be nearly as wide as the top.

The base is 80mm wide and the top is only 20mm wide. i have had cups hanging off this and it has been no probs at all. It is not unstable at all.

    Hi there,

    excellent, just one drawback:
I'd attach a roof because pocket watches will not resist rain in long term.

I think you did a very professional job. I would maybe oil the wood to bring out the beautiful grain.
The stand has a`very elegant Japanese simplicity to it!!!

No, the base is 80mm deep and the top 20mm deep. The base is not wide enough.
