There were a bunch of registrations tied to "Artis Watch Company": Mikrolisk - The horological trade mark index

However, the most recent one was in 1945, and your watch is mid 60's at the earliest, so it's hard to say if it's the same company or not. A look at the movement might help narrow down the date (and possibly provide a import code)

    Thanks for that AbslomRob.
The movement doesn't give much away, except that it doesn't match what is said in the dial ....... dial says 17 jewels but movement is 21 jewels so something wrong here.Name: Movement (2).JPG

Yes, there is the possibility that it has been frankenised. The movement is a Fontainemelon Cal. FHF 74-4 (here is the extremely similar 73-4):

    Thanks Hartmut,
Looks like you're correct, the movement on that ( excellent ) site is almost identical. It has obviously been swapped into the case at some time.
It's certainly a very clean movement and has been keeping very good time over the last day.
Do you know anything about Artis.
    Regards .......... Gary.

It could be that this model had a 17 jeweled movement when it was first produced but over time they put in a 21 jeweled movement instead and a 21 jeweled movement is really the same as a 17 jeweled one but with added cap jewels. This has happened to me as well on a Fortis watch.

It could also be that the watch broke and they put in a replacement movement from the same manufacturer as they are interchangeable..

Since the lume looks quite new, there is a third possibility... An inaccurate redial.
