Dwerrihouse Verge Fusee...some biographical help wanted.

    Hello all.

I recently acquired the below pictured pocket. Very cool addition to my collection. I am looking for a bit more info on history. I know of John Dwerrihouse of London who was making watches in the 18th to early 19th century. This appears to predate his birth. The watch is signed; Dwerrihouse, Berkeley Park, 1672.

The case is gold and silver, with enamel monogram on back. It has a diamond endstone. The pierced work is wonderful. I am unable to locate any info in my library or online regarding an ancestor of John Dwerrihouse who was an English watchmaker.

Any assitance would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Doug,

Nice old English verge, it has likely been recased at some time, and would
have originaly been fitted in a pair case IMO.

Baillies reference book lists this watchmaker as working in London 1781-1805 and dates his
    watch, number 1948, to 1789.
As your watch is numbered 1672 then the date would be around 1785 which looks about
    right for this movement.
