    ETA's ancestor?

    Hi,

This is a by-product of collecting vintage Chinese watches. This ancient ETA 1 caliber is found in a Chinese Huancheng watch. It is signed on the dial side ETA, and under the balance a number 1. Could it be the very 1st ETA movement?

It is not signed how many jewels, and no Swiss Made, but it looks like a 15 jewels movement. It is signed 2 adj. The size is about 23mm.

    Hi -

Looking at the picture, it looks more like a 7 jewel than a 15. But unless you take it apart, one will probably never know...

My guess/count: 2 balance wheel, 2 escapement, 3 further ones. The center gear isn't jeweled, which is what I would expect with a 15 jewels movement...

PS: come on, take it apart and let us know!
