R.R. you maybe deliberately selected a selectively plated pattern one. Never saw another. Or was it actually some fairly uniform loss of the very thin plate? artb

Here a very high quality unmarked about 12 size. Superb Suisse plating and mechanism finish quality is obvious.

A FINAL? example. The Brits did much fine gold plate work for hundreds of years with the dangerous poisonous fire gilt method. Here a 1737. artb

Unfortunately not. The owner asks compensatiion for pain and suffering - i.e. if it were mine, I'd not sell it (at least not cheaper), but I would not pay the asked price to get it.

No idea how it was made. I guess they made it of nickel silver, fire-gilt it completely, and grinded the surface.

Final addition; Omega did many oddly, but nicely plated wristwatch movements using a variety of colors often at once in same watch. Outside sourced movements uniformly plated. artb.

I must say that I find it difficult to believe that - different colour plating in Omegas are to me the No. 1 sign of frankenizing.....

Re: EXAMPLES OF FINE GOLD PLATED P.W. MOVEMENTS

I think there was also a thread a while back that purported to demonstrate that these "gold colour" omegas don't actually have any gold in them. Can't find the thread though.

edit...here's site that triggered the thread: http://members.iinet.net.au/~fotoplot/rgold/rgold.html

NO GOLD in Omega movement surfaces certainly probable. Look a little coppery to me. Here a good running and overall condition $25. cost one. artb
