    Famikron watch

    Hello,

does anyone have some information about this Famikron watch and its brand.
I think its 30ish years old or something.

In the middle of the dial is written:

    Famikron
    De Luxe
    ****
    17 jewels
    Shock protected

    Thanks

The style and dial color all say funky 1970's to me. With a stainless steel back and chromed case I believe it was a popularly priced watch from one of the many small brands who had their watches made and cased up by larger companies. Those smaller brands would appear and disappear after a few years so little information can be found. I'm thinking it was probably sold in europe, so you might peruse the archives on the Roland Ranfft auction website. He has sold many small brand watches over the years.

The name is similar to the much better known Omikron brand, so I wonder if this wasn't one of those coattail brands....

    Re: Famikron watch

Googling gives me a Portuguese engineering company called Famikron:

Famikron-Fábrica de Cortantes,Moldes e Peças de Precisão Lda - Moldes - Vila Nova de Famalicão

it may, possibly, have been a promotional piece for them. But the logo doesn't match. Otherwise it seems to be a mystery brand.

Thanks on the information. Yeah, i believe that this could be some mystery copy of Omikron, but don't know the model which is similar like this one.

Physical similarity is definitely optional for vintage bogus brands. Hormilton, Omeqa, Longreene etc rarely look anything like the watches whose names they emulate.
