Favre Leuba Sea King 101 Unusual Dialling

Just purchased the FL 101 in Kingston ON. Obviously it has been in someone’s drawer since 1963 or so, as it had never been opened and is all original. I had it serviced and the crystal replaced, runs perfectly. What caught my eye though was the dial; I have never seen a dial like this before, and certainly not anywhere on the Web for an FL. The hour markers are cut into the dial in a leaf shape and inlaid with silver foil. The markers shift between looking sunken, raised, and diamondesque depending on the light and angle. Has anyone seen this kind of dial before? As a side, I bought the watch because a long time ago owned briefly a Bathy 160 by the same company. Any info on this kind of dial would be appreciated. Thanks Paul.

Nice watch Favre Leuba made some very good watches with solid movements there is a lot on sale from India with refurbished faces some with silly colours, Favre Leuba owned Jaeger LeCoultre from 1969 to 1978 and owning their designs made their own Reverso, I would love one of them.

Isn't this just a particular shape of applied markers, like these on eBay:

Cutting the markers into the dial was also a thing with some 1960s Soviet watches such as Poljot and Luch. The leaf shape naturally arises from cutting across the curved part of the dial.

most of these refurbished/redialled ones comes from Mumbai and these are on Ebay as well.. India has seen a lot of Favre leuba's. There are some fine examples from India . we just have to keep looking, not All leuba's from India are bad IMHO
