    Fine p.w. case U.S. 18 size may be Suisse?

    Fits perfectly same age Elgin and German Gruen leverset movements, dials and stems. Who made?artb

    It's truly beautiful! But I am not sure I understand your question. It was made by Dietrich Gruen & Sons, based in Columbus (Ohio), Cincinnati (Ohio), New York (NY) and Toronto (Canada). At least that's what I would have thought.....

    I displaced a probably original Elgin from the case for the Gruen. Marking in case does not seem to me 1890's American? artb

    Thanks for trying. This movement is marked SON not SONS, low serial number, not marked DRESDEN as later ones were so surprisingly was probably made by Aeby of AEBY & LANDRY, Madretsch, Suisse who made a few before Dresden facility available. Wonder if this possibly Swiss case with the Elgin is now on a Swiss Gruen? artb

    Confused this case with another 14k Solidarity. I will return 1884 Elgin movement to it and use the proper age Solidarity 1895 Elgin case as originally intended. So the old 18k case is American made by C & J co. that is appropriately marked for its older age. artb
