Fine Swiss repeater pocket watch not expensive

I made photos for the owner of a nice quality and condition hunting case Swiss repeater about 100 yr. age in the S. American fancy dial style. There are no absolutes, but bidder pricing for this particular one on ebay is likely to be high, and at prestige auctions relatively low. It is a 1/4 repeater, has simple calender requiring monthly resetting, very fine case is plain, unknown name. Very similar appearing and not greatly differing quality with popularly known name and minute repeater with perpetual calender would sell many times higher at a good auction. So this very fine quality rare timepiece can be a bargain from a fine dealer or auction, but likely not as an ebay item. I have always had at least one good repeater. I bought several by mail bidding from Sotheby catalog. Longines, LeCoultre, no names very affordably. Same still applies to this nice one.

Sure is a pretty thing. I'll have to keep my eye out for it on eBay.

Really? Not this one. Owner likes it too much. I have given up shopping ebay. Use it for info and value trends. Might get lucky, but some bidders there likely to confuse this kind with the good ones with overbidding. If serious better to check the Christie, Sothebey, Antiqorum, etc auction listings. This one $3000? Good ones $30,000?

Very nice, it's true that ebayers go mad sometimes and pay well over
    the odds.
Talking repeaters, I like this clip from the U.S Antiques Roadshow when
the expert is confronted with the 'finest' watch he has ever seen and
the owner is genuinely taken aback when he finds out its worth.

The auction clip is fun. I tolerated my slow computer loading of 15 minutes to see it. Over quite a few years as a low budget collector I would get a repeater then sell the one I had. One local newspaper advertised one went to a junk car parts dealer who brought a crumpled paper bag full of mostly $20. bills. He admitted financing his watch buys with cash car parts payments that bypassed the cash register. In this case $2500. for one that came from auction house Sotheby's for $2000.

Nice story, I'd like to own a repeater some day... but Art, if you are a
'low budget' collector then I must surely be catagorised as a 'miniscule budget'
    collector

But with your skills you get maximum value and satisfaction for your highly
taxed monetary situation. I expect there is an active underground economy justifiable as nonprofit collector activity. I got started that way and am still honestly not profitable. Presently do not buy much and sell even less.
