First vintage watch - Ebay help

I have decided that I want to try dipping a toe in to this fascinating world of vintage watches. In the search of my first vintage watch I have stumpled accros quite a few interesting possibilities on ebay. Since I am still a student the funds are fairly limitid thus I have been looking for some of the less valuable Swiss brands, here I am thinking along the lines of certina, cyma, tissor etc. Ebay is a bit of a jungle though and this is why I am posting this thread. I have set my eyes on this beautiful vintage Cyma:

What do you think? Is it legit or is there a big chance of me possible bitting on some kind of mix match of dial, movement and case? I really like the look of the watch but I dont want to spend my hard earned cash on something that is not original. Your input will be greatly appriciated!!

    Hi and welcome

I think it looks genuine. The movement is a Cyma one - similar to this bidfun-db Archive: Watch Movements: Cyma 032 (if not that exact one)

It may have been redialled at some time as the dial doesn't appear to say Swiss on it at the bottom. Also note that the regulator is pushed over off the F-S scale - meaning that it is overdue a service. Factor the cost of that in should you go ahead.

Others may know more of course.

I don't think I am that much in to buying a redialled watch so if you think this particular watch has been redialled I'll let it go. Did all Swiss manufacturers sign the watches Swiss made? I found this thread, showcasing a few Cyma's, where the dials aren't signed Swiss made:

Basically, yes - all Swiss watches have had Swiss or Switzerland on the dial for many years. Partly as a mark of quality, but also to comply with UK and USA import regulations. Some for the French market were marked Suisse - but mostly in English. Sometimes its so low down on the dial that you can't easily see it. If a watch is being redialled, the curved edge of the dial is a tricky bit to print so rediallers charge extra or just leave it off.

    Thanks for your help!

My first purchase ended up being a Certina DS-2 automatic :)

I need to replace the strap though - think I wanna try a nato on it.
