    Ford Pocket Watch

    Hi Comrades,

I was given a Ford F-100 Pickup Pocket watch by a friend yesterday, I have never seen one before and just curious as to when it was made and for what market. All as I know so far is what it says in the back "case made in china, Movt Japan" so I'm guessing there not worth much, I do quite like it tough.
    Any info greatly appreciated.

    Regards,
    Chris.

It looks like a private label watch, made for Ford (you can get Valjoux 7750 chronographs made for Mercedes or Audi) to sell as an "accessory". Since it is quartz, it is certainly not worth much but some adamant Ford collectors might be interested in paying above average prices.

Also, not too much different than the "Harley Davidson" watches made by Bulova, and pretty easily available at most all dealers.

    Re: Ford Pocket Watch

This sort of watch for Ford, Harley Davidson, etc, I have seen around over the last 20 years or so. The little Japanese quartz movement in the big plastic spacer is typical of the type. A distinctive feature of these watches is that they are always 'hunter' style (i.e. with a lid over the dial) but the dial is always aligned with the stem at 12 o'clock rather than the usual hunter stem at 3 o'clock. They're always sold with the belt pouch, which is a nice accessory especially with the watch pocket on jeans tending to get too small for a watch these days.

As others have said, the monetary value is negligible. Don't believe the advertisements; this is not heirloom material. But it's a fun piece of Americana, so enjoy!

Thanks for the info, much appreciated, I'm not really interested in value, my friend gave it to me and I just wondered what era it was from and country? I'm guessing 80's and as you mentioned American, I've only recently got into watches and started collecting Russian watches after my late friend gave me a millirary Vostok watch, it's a little out of place in my collection, but I like it and you never know with this hobby it may end up surrounded by other examples

    Regards,
    Chris.
