    It's a pocket watch.

It is a key wind, key set cylinder escapement pocket watch, likely from the late 1800s.

It's fairly low jewelled, and likely generic. Case may be silver - you should look for hallmarks.

It can be hard to find watchmakers who will service cylinder escapements such as this.

    All of the above, and...
Hands look like they have been replaced.
From the way the regulator is jammed over to slow, it badly needs a service.

Use Silvo (or your local equivalent silver polish). Be aware that repeated cleaning will remove silver plating and expose the base metal. If it ain't hallmarked, it's probably plated.

trim makes a good point about these old cylinder escapement watches...repairs can be almost too much work!

At the same time: these old fellows can surprise you...in my experience, if nothing's broken or missing, they tend to work after a simple clean & oiling...they'll never keep time, but they will tick! I've worked on quite a few, and it's fun to see them back and running. Michael.
