Found a nice pocket watch today

Made a stop at the antiques mall and found a Waltham Vanguard 23J 18s pocket watch with a diamond endstone! After a rather long dry spell after Christmas it was a nice surprise. Runs fine, case is a little rough, movement and dial are in tip top shape. I'll post a picture in a bit.

A good Waltham find. That lovely movement deserves a better picture I think.

Looks like you found a good one.I hope you did not pay too much the antique store's in my area are all ways over priced and halve the time they don't work and they still want double what the watch is worth. The only antique store I did good at only delt with watches and he closed down last year.He was good for watch parts I miss that shop.

Interesting that it's not a lever set like most Vanguards.

I thought some watch-companies produced non-railroad (ie: crown-set) versions of railroad watches? Didn't Waltham produce various versions of the Riverside? One fit for RR duty, and one not?

    EDIT ---

Man114, I checked the charts, your watch was made in 1903.
