    Found a watch today. 14k?

    I found this old benrus today at work. Not running. Ticks a bit when shaken. Sorry for the blurry pics. They were rushed. The case back is stamped 14k gold both inside and out. Would this make the whole case gold, or just the case. Model BO-1. As per the movement.

    Guessing early 50's. And Info would be appreciated.

    The picture of the case back is to blurry to read. It says;
    Benrus
    14k
    Gold.
    There's an arrow through the word gold. There's no other letters such as G.F....etc. do I believe it's solid 14k.

    14k gold case indeed. Movement seems to be based on an ETA 900. No shock protection.

    Just to be clear, the entire case and case back is solid gold then?

    The case and case-back are 14k gold, which is 58.3% solid gold.

    Edit: It's a small and light-weight case, but still probably worth a few hundred $ in scrap, if that's what you're considering.

    It does appear to have some sort of a shock device... Apparently a design similar to Eterna-H. Held by a screw located between the regulator scale and the balance cock screw. Dunno what's the name of it, though.

    I didn't even notice it. I guess my eyes are automatically looking for something familiar.
