    Gallet Chrono-help needed to identify

    Hello gentlemen

I have just joined this forum and would like to introduce myself and possibly ask for some advice on one of my collection. I have been collecting watches for the last 10 years and now have about 30. Just recently I have been looking at chronos, specifically Angelus, EP and Gallet. I have recently purchased a Gallet chrono that I cannot for the life of my identify. After spending hours exhausting Google, I am concerned it may be a franken and any advice would be great. I'm sure the case is genuine as it is stamped Gallet with 61244 case number however it doesn't conform to any Gallet model I can find having a case size of 31.5 mm.

The movement has a Gallet marked bridge together with the JXR import stamp but I cannot identify the movement, At first I thought it was a Venus as it is somewhat similar but it has quite a few differences and its not an EP. The dial and fingers also look correct. Does anyone have any ideas as to why it doesn't appear to be referenced anywhere? Any help would be much appreciated.

Contact Gallet in the US @ 855.542.5538 ext. #2 and ask for David. He can then get in touch with Walter Hediger in Switzerland who owns the brand. I believe he has more archives available, and can at least provide some more information. I have known Walter for many years, but first start with David. They are located in Georgia in the US.

    Hi Pallaton123,

At first glance it does look like Venus Cal 150. Will do a little more homework to double check.

    Regards,

It has a Venus indeed. And it looks like a bad redial.

While I can't immediately identify the model or movement exactly, this watch looks legit to me, certainly I think the movement, dial and case belong together. Hands may have been replaced and dial may have been refinished.

I believe the movement is a Venus Cal 150 bu has had some work and modifications over the years.

The carrying arm on the transmission wheel has been shortened on the OP's for some reason and no longer has that tapered right angel and the minute counter wheel looks to be a replacement too.
    Others may know more.

Hi, thanks very much for the info. I'm based in the U.K., does this guy have an email, maybe I could send some photos?

You can reach him through galletwatch.com or through the Gallet Facebook group. In my experience (I had them service a watch once) he is not so fast to respond, but eventually you should hear something.

Cheers for the reply. That's the thing, the case has to be legit but it falls between the main chronos and the petit models. Nowhere can I find a reference to 31.5 mm case, but they must have made it.
